I get your overall point but doesn’t Apex not really fit here? It’s not like Destiny, where there’s constant stuff to level up and grind and all of the story content costs extra. A new season brings new updates, and then there are one or two smaller updates during the season, and that’s basically it. And seasons last three months. Not to mention, the only thing they charge money for is cosmetics. The game is free. It’s pretty easy to not play it for two weeks and not miss anything, compared to other GAAS that have constant things happening to lure you back in

I agree that it can still be a time sink, but there’s a difference between free shooting games like Apex and games like Avengers, which charges $60 up front and relies on story content to stay alive like Destiny
