Dads of AskMen, can you describe the love you feel for your children?

I'm a single dad of a 9yr old. Mom isn't in the picture.

Homer Simpson works in a hellhole for Maggie.

Also in season 3 episode 8 with Lisa's pony, but I can't find any clip. He's got 3 full time jobs to give Lisa a pony and keeps going without complaint because of how happy she is.

Also there's the episode with Lisa's saxophone vs. an air-conditioning unit.

Essentially there's nothing more important than your daughter. You would suffer the fate of Prometheus with a smile and stoicism to bring anything joy to her. You would endure that while never letting her know that you were even slightly uncomfortable or tired.

A man may withstand torture from an enemy to protect his comrades from danger, but he will torture and work himself to death with no complaints simply so his daughter can smile.

I've heard it described as having your heart outside of your body wandering around on its own, but that's not even close. If that were the case I could take the suffering, because it's mine. No, it's like you've taken every hope, dream, goal, and desire you could ever have and made a person using them as seeds. The person that grows from them is infinitely more beautiful than you ever could've hoped or imagined.

... And that amazing little person needs ever expanding freedom in this world that is indescribably harsh and hostile. You could never deny her that freedom, but you're terrified. You remember every time the world kicked your ass and you see this beautiful little alien of yours wandering through that same world and you just want to put her in a spacesuit inside of a tank defended by laser satellites. That would make her sad though so you'll never, ever do anything like it no matter how much it hurts.
