Dear concern trolls, fat people are trying

The way I see it there are two kinds of fat people, women in particular. There are those who's bodies doesn't fit their mind and are unhappy, and there are those who change their minds to fit their bodies and find some measure of happiness. I'd say this lady belongs to the first group.

It sounds like she's trying, but her energy is being directed into ineffective efforts to lose weight. If she's eating food that is as healthy as she claims, and is not eating lots of refined sugars - then the only reason she is still overweight is that she is still eating too much of it.

People (and again women especially) get told "do this, eat this, eat this exact amount of calories!" It just isn't the right way to go about it. Everyone is different, and the best thing she could do for herself is to spend one or two months determining how many calories she needs to maintain her weight. Take a number, say 2000 cals. She would stick to it for a month, then weigh herself at the end. If she has lost weight she is eating under her needs, if she has gained she is eatig over, and if she has stayed the same then there yoiu have it, regardless of what mags tell her that her intake should be. Once she knows what she needs, it should be a simpe matter of cutting 30% off that number, and making sure she gets enough protein, fats and micronutrients from good carbohydrates. She can still eat well, it should not feel punishing.

Everyone who has been successful in /r/loseit and /r/fitness has done it more or less this way. So many overweight people have the guts and drive to do it, but not the simple tools because of all the misinformation and marketting.

So I really admire her for trying so hard, and if she really wants to lose weight then it really is in her grasp, but so long as she keeps putting energy ito things that aren't going to work for her, she won't make any progress :(. It's such a crying shame to see so much effort and good intention go unrewarded :(!

Source: got sick of all the bs and being overweight, did a little reading and cut through the lies and now 30lbs down since last christmas.
