I don't believe it-- Jeff is right.

OW is a highly team dependant game that requires 4 people to play largely thankless supportive roles. Healing in OW is not going to be pleasant for 1/3 of players and tanking only seems marginally more popular. But you need at least 1/3 of people to happily play support and the same number for tanks to make this work.

Expecting 2/3 of the player base to contribute to the entertainment of the 1/3 of DPS players is a wild expectation for the development team to have. The lack of carry mechanics and the NEED for healing in 100% of team compositions is what absolutely ruins the fun. If one team is trying and the other team has ONE guy who decides, "fuck it" then it's basically over unless the first team is just in WAY over their heads. But the problem stacks up even worse when you hate playing a support, but play one anyway and then find the guy who's taking a DPS spot is basically awful and losing you the game. That kind of thing builds animus.

I quit the game more or less entirely after my 10 placement games this season. I've lost the will to deal with the endless stream of hate flowing from people who don't know what the problem is but are sure raging at everyone around them will solve it.

I'm a big advocate of the cheerleader strategy. It has worked for me in DotA, League, CS:GO, Smite, R6:S. But in this game? The only effect it has in 90% of situations is wasting my time.

I started playing CS:GO and I think to myself "Wow, what nice people!" EVEN WHILE I'M BEING YELLED AT! I'm not joking about that. The hate in CS:GO is pretty much temporary and easily ignored. In OW it's a general feeling of despair that taints the entire experience for me. All because OW has the most idiotic, selfish community I've ever seen. Seriously, fuck OW players.
