Eaton Centre Uniqlo workers seeking to unionize | Toronto Star

9.5 hour workdays are quite long. Combine this with a low estimate of a 30 minute commute that is 10.5 hours of your day or 52.5 hours per week sacrificed for what? A clothing company.

Some people routinely work for 12 hours a day at minimum wage, plus commute. So what's the argument there; they don't have to do that? Because neither does anyone.

"If your argument is "It's just retail, not finance/welding/healthcare" I'd disagree. Retail is quite a challenging job - you likely will end up walking dozens of km per day, unloading skids of heavy weights, and dealing with less-than-nice customers. It is stressful as any other job."

I also work in retail, just not clothing retail. I understand all you've said here, and I get it. I unload multiple 48' trailers per night, 5 nights a week, so I understand that it's difficult work.

I guess I just found it silly to see someone with what I consider an easier job than mine, complaining about it.

I was wrong to imply that those people shouldn't want a better work environment.
