It's a fucking date. You are supposed to feel at least a little awkward. Get the fuck over it. Be an adult and explain that it's not going to work if you don't feel like it's going to work. If you can't do that, you have no business dating anyone.

You're in a public place. If you're feeling danger in a public place, call the cops or scream or fight back. If you're already in the bathroom (where this poster is) and you feel in danger, call the cops or go alert the staff. You're not in much danger if you can't do any of those things for fear of embarassment.

It's completely normal for a date to pick you up for dinner, especially if you've been talking on tinder or whatever.

You're in way, way, way more danger riding in the car with someone, so the shared ride thing just means you have absolutely no pre-planning or self-preservation skills whatsoever. If you get in the car with someone you don't know if you can trust, you're asking to get murdered.
