Personally, I'm very involved in keeping my house neat and clean all the time. But when my wife goes away, I will go full tuxedo/saucepan mode, because it's like a little vacation for me not to have to worry about the dishes or the laundry or any other housework for a couple days. I don't mind it. The dogs dont mind it. And the house is always spotless by the time she gets back.

The funny part is, before we got married and I was living on my own, I would never think to not always have everything tidy. But now she'll go away on a work trip, and I'll live like an entitled teenager for a few days, stacked pizza boxes and full dishwasher be damned. It's a victimless crime.
