Haida Gwaii: A Mist-enshrouded Showcase of Haida Culture

Sure. But have you considered why you don’t learn about more indigenous cultures use of slavery; why is it that we learn about how ‘white people’ used slaves? We need to be educated to understand and realize that slavery was “a thing that white people did.’ You (?) were not framed. In general, Canadians understand that slavery was used in all forms, everywhere, by everyone.

We are making small steps in educating Canadians about indigenous cultures, which is great. But you understand where the lack of knowledge, and the lack of interest comes from right? The public, the school systems and the government are a few among a long list. For instance this community wanted to show you a part of its history and culture, and it’s met with anger? Feeling belittled? Because someone wanted to show you something?

When a community who is trying to showcase itself, do you expect them to be like “ya we used slaves, this is our kill-death ratio, and this is a long list of stuff we did that might be an issue….” No, never. How long does it take for government officials in Canada to share ‘bad information’, if ever?

I’m just having a hard time understanding your argument.
