Moving to British Columbia?

Thank you for saying all this. Canada is some dystopian nightmare these days. Bc is beautiful, I live on the coveted island. I’m a top 3% for female earners and bought my house at half the provincial average and still struggle with cost of living here. Gas prices are beyond insane. Get used to an hour each way being a $40 day. A single bag of groceries is $100. It’s insane.

My mom is a vet and she owns this beautiful acrage with a clinic and everything. She makes bank. But if she became a vet today, even owning her practice, she wouldn’t be able to buy that and accumulate that wealth (bought for $500k 17 years ago, worth 1.8m now… you just can’t do that as an employee anymore).

Honestly, I’d never move to Canada. It’s fucking cold here and the cost of living is so high. For these prices you can go to nz or aus and have a shot at happiness. Just last week i had to buy an suv because I bought a house in the boons and my road is never plowed. If I wasn’t over 35 I’d be migrating somewhere warmer. We need vets desperately but a few of my clients are vets and make 65k/year…. Your lucky if your rent is under 24k + housing expenses…. Our tax rates are insane so you don’t keep a lot of that 65…It’s fucking bleak these days.
