Birth tourism dad from China suing B.C. hospital, doctors and 'birth hotel'

Okay I am going to be attacked but I am dual. Canadian first then American . I had to experience of health care in both countries.

My mom had cancer and she had to fly back to Asia to get her tumor removed as a Canadian because the wait in line . She came back for chemo because she is a Canadian and chemo is a long term process despite wanting to just do it in Asia. She died at 48.

My America husband has a good job so it came with amazing healthcare benefits. We pay 30 dollar a month ( we are not low income) for all 3 of us. My maximum out of pocket is 1500 a year and 3k for whole family. Meaning if my cancer threatening cost 1m I would only need to pay 1500 .

I gave birth in usa and I got ob immediately and I had weekly scans. I even had maternal fetal specialist for my gf. I got to pick my c section and insurance covered it all . My best friend in Canada was amazed how many scans and appointment and “ free “testing I got. I knew someone had hard time getting even an ob in Toronto she had no choice but go mid wife route .

I also saw a cardiologist the next day when I had some heart issues . Usa dose have some holes in the system no way is it perfect. But If you have a decent job ( I can’t believe I am saying this) I rather have American health care where experienced how easy to get a doctor. I only lived in major cities Seattle and nyc so in that way it might be biased.
