Hitman Q&A: "What we release on December 8th is not the full game. It’s a sizeable chunk of it. Throughout 2016 we’ll release more locations and missions until the story arc is done and finished."

Interesting idea.

Though I think this could potentially be a bad decision on their part. People could quite easily lose interest long before the final parts are released. This won't apply to everyone but the majority of the gamers I know personally, including myself, tend to pick up a game and play it extensively before eventually dropping it and moving to something else. Of course we can revisit older games but again as something to dive into heavily. That typically applies to single player games.

With this game though, you will get it and play it before running out of content and deciding to wait or playing it a lot and getting bored of it. Then you will move on to something else. When you see a reddit post, news article, patch note or whatever it is, telling you that the next chapter of Hitman has been released will you really want to go back? Drop whatever game/'s you are currently invested in and re-familiarise yourself with Hitman, a game that by that point you could have forgotten most of?

I'm not sure I would. I have a feeling many people will be put off buying the game because of not wanting to buy a partial game, others because they don't want to sit around waiting for the next part, and even the ones who do buy the game may move on like I said and not experience the full game. I can only see this producing much lower initial sales figures than usual and because of the weird experience it may affect peoples opinion of the series in a negative way, reducing future sales of the same series.

I am thinking hard of a way that this makes sense both from a business perspective and a gamers perspective and I cannot find anything.
