How do you know?

I am catholic.

Have you read the bible, cover to cover?

how do you know God doesn't exist?

Mainly because it is inconsistent with the world we see;

[this link](www.reddit.com/r/atheism/comments/1zrjrh/what_is_your_most_convincing_theory_showing_that/cfwax3g) is not really designed with your question in mind but it gives some decent points why it doesn't.

Also why do you think unicorns don't exist; god pretty much has the same reasons; there is no reason to think he does exist, so it is naturally that you think he doesn't.

Now I do not by any means excuse what happened but why do actions of the past dictate your feelings now?

it doesn't, it just shows the bible is used again and again to justify hate; it does it still today with the anti gay rights.

I'm just frustrated by christians claiming that the bible is the source of good, if time after time after time we can see in history it was used for evil. To claim that now you have the right interpretation of the bible is just ignorant of the past.

There are passages in the bible that justify slavery, sex with minors, death penalty, hating gays etc. To ignore those and just pick the parts you like is just admitting the bible is not a source of morals, just a tool to legitimize your own morals without reflection.

The Catholic Church still provides way more help around the world than anyone else.

Does it really? logically the church cannot give everything it gets to good causes (because it has to run it's own logistics). all the money the church gathers would have been more efficiently spend directly to the actual charities it supports.

That is like saying Bill Gates spending 50k on charity is doing more than someone making 50k a year giving 30k. just because they spend more than everybody else does not mean they a better.

They provide opportunities for people of very little resources to join the priesthood or one of the many jobs they have,

just because they create jobs does not make them good

they provide you with an education as well as anything you will ever need.

like how condoms are bad?

So yes no one is perfect but why does the church get so much shit?

because it is an unnecessary power that tries to control peoples life.

do you believe in miracles?

I'm still waiting for one; i got a broken pencil in my room. I'll believe in god when it is whole again. maybe you pray to god to make me believe.

One example of that is a statue head of Jesus I don't remember the exact name however the statue head cried actual tears and actually bleeds from the crown of thorns.

why wouldn't there be real miracles, ones we can more easily factcheck; like limbs growing back after prayer? Or the World Trade Center reconstructing with everybody inside being fine....

these things can't be faked, but somehow, when things could not be faked they don't happen.

You learn how to read blueprints you learn how to read code for programming so why wouldn't you learn how to read the bible?

and how do you suppose priests learn it? Do they get interships in heaven? did god publish a book about how to read the bible? Their guess is as good as anyones.

Everyone else just kinda picked the things they like and picked out what they didn't like and said ok let's this instead.

so you support slavery, death penalty for gays etc? Because you don't pick an choose right?

Second part to this is why do you give the bible so much shit.

because we know it better than the quran

what is so wrong with religion?

unnecessary power, a claim to truth and justice not based on facts or arguments but just based on an ancient book. it gives extremists power they shouldn't have.

One easy example is ISIS people use that to degrade the Islamic religion how barbaric it is, but you have to understand these people do not follow the basic moral standards of Islam.

How do you know? have you read the quran?
