How did you guys figure out what you were going to do for the rest of your life?

So, I'm a rising sophomore in college. (Granted I'm younger than you, so I guess this is weird but I'll shoot anyway- I hope that's ok!)

I hustled a lot in high school. I was always a money grubbing asshole whole loved buying and selling stuff on eBay. (A very specific niche of rare / collectable items) I was pretty good at Economics, because I could always relate a concept to something I had encountered in real life. From there, I decided to go into business, specifically Finance at first. While I'm digging the courses, I've shifted to real estate as a focus within finance, and hopefully get some coursework in that and find some experience opportunities. While the pay is high, the hustle is equally as high. Most guys I know working in banks who are bottom-tier analysts have long hours, and crazy bosses. But, if they stick with the company, the reward gets greater. (Unfortunately now we're seeing some weird turmoil with Financial careers.. Returns aren't as good as they used to be and it's slowed down a lot.)

I was told a while back by a wise man, don't do something that you are passionate for or love. While I like finance and business, it's not something I absolutely love. It's interesting, but at the end of the day, and I just had a fund full of money, I'd sit down in a house and throw pottery, and work on old Porsches. But, while some get lucky and do that, it's not going to be true for everyone. (But, my weekends are free, and that's what I hope I'll be able to do!)

My suggestion? Find something you vibe with and jive with. But, it's not something that you'll get burned out on over time because you do it everyday, and you'll end up hating it.
