how do i stick to diet?

For me it boils down to, "if you don't stick to this diet there will be hell to pay." For medical reasons I have to stick to a low fat / low fiber diet indefinitely and even recently had to quit caffeine. After drinking 2-3 cups of a coffee a year for the last 20 years, well this last week has been garbage to say the least...

Aside from the dietary restrictions, which also include dairy (including whey protein, though I seem to tolerate isolate and hydrolyzed protein well enough), I have to be super strict controlling portions. Like the entire meal should be no bigger than my first. Tracking calories I struggle to get 1800 when I'm being bad...but all the same I struggle with a diet that tells me a big-mac is better for my stomach and overall comfort than a salad.

Anyway, I have a goal and that's maybe this problem will heal over time. It may be a year, it may be never, but I have to maintain sight of the goal. I've had to adjust my lifting from 5/5/5 to something like 10/10/5 - a lot less intense and with less frequency too. I may lift every two days instead of every other day, which just means my schedule looks like: 1 off day/walks, 1 yoga day, 1 lifting day.

I'm not trying to sidetrack your post, I think the point I'm trying to make, and making it poorly...is to give it time. Your body will adjust. Drink more water, avoid trigger foods, take more walks when you feel those cravings. I'm someone that loves absolutely everything about food, and have changed from eating like crap and being obese, to eating healthy and being fit, back to eating like crap and maintaining fitness - and if I can do it, I mean, I'm not exactly known for my impulse control, anyone can do it.
