I'm a pastor who is saddened by how our faith has been treated in politics. So I'm running for Congress as an independent, progressive Republican, fighting for single payer healthcare, equal rights, and a renewable energy economy. I'm Robb Ryerse, AMA (XPost r/Political_Revolution)

How can you be "progressive" when a lot of progressive ideas are against scripture? (LGBT and abortion)

How can you create even more equal rights when we have laws literally stating that you can not discriminate because of gender, religion, race, etc.? Sounds like something you should fix as a pastor by going out into the community vs passing more laws since we have laws on the books. So what would you do differently?

Single payer health care creates death panels, just like what happened to that baby in England and many elderly people in socialist countries. What will you do to prevent this? Like Ben Shaprio says, "there will be rationing which creates worse coverage." Yes, I understand more people are covered but only so much care can be spread around. So how will we have better care than what we have now? Because with single payer, usually it gets worse for half and better for half, so how can we ALL have better coverage? Because we have some of the best hospitals because there's incentive to discover new medicines, treatments, etc. Also, how will you provide incentives for scientists, doctors to create new me dices, treatments? Will people be able to "upgrade" their insurance so they have better coverage (essentially not single payer anymore)? Or will it be all the same (the government then decides who gets what services, aka rationing)? I know these questions are commonly asked by conservatives, but they are questions that have never been answered or really addresses.

What kind of renewable energy source are you thinking?
