I understand what you're saying and agree with you. I should clarify what I said as it came across somewhat wrong. The comparison of a puppy and child wasn't a good comparison. And I should have also stated that spankings should never be a first resort. That is abuse. Spankings should not physically harm the child. Again I understand what you're saying and even though I disagree with spankings being wrong, I do agree that spankings can cause emotional damage on children especially when not done correctly. When I was younger and being blatantly disobedient and I got a spanking, I knew I was in the wrong and deserved. It didnt cause any damage but knocked me to my senses that hey I'm doing something wrong. Also I was a very stubborn child so thats one of the few forms of discipline that worked for me. Every child is different. Some children won't ever need discipline. I did. Its different for everyone. A child should never be spanked without knowing why and it being a good reason. Again I understand what you're saying and am interested in the scientific discoveries behind the development on the human brain when a child is spanked.
