LPT: If you’re feeling nervous when catching the train in Australia, board the train where the wheelchair sign is on the platform as that is the carriage the guard is in.

People feel nervous in any situation, any environment and at any time - for any reason. We’re all very different.

I found this tip (from my Mum) useful tonight as I caught the train from an inner-city station to the end of a train line. The train went from having nearly no seats to just myself and one other girl in a two-story carriage.

In the past, I was once followed by two men from a central city station in Sydney to Bondi (only a few stops at 12pm). Thankfully people on the train noticed as one man went through the upstairs carriage as the other went through the downstairs carriage. They even changed carriages when the train stopped at stations.

It never hurts to ensure you feel safe and comfortable.
