It's quite apparent by the comments in this topic, that the majority of people perceive Feminism based on those outspoken people who give it a bad name.

Ha! No. The majority of people commenting on this submission have expressed loathing for feminism, but we don't know if all of those comments are in response to "those outspoken people who give it a bad name", or some other issue such as adolescent sexual frustrations, disputes with personal expectations, etc. And as of typing this, less than 500 people have commented on this submission. And the submission itself has received less than 2,000 upvotes! By no means can it be said that the majority of people on Reddit, let alone the majority of people overall, have expressed an opinion on this post or feminism. Furthermore, overall Reddit probably can't be considered a meaningful sample anyhow, considering the median user is male, aged 18 to 29, and from USA, which is likely to produce certain biases.

Replying with a definition from a dictionary, or a mission statement from the 1890s isn't going to sway someones perception on what they have witnessed over the last 20-30-50 years.

I didn't do either of these things. Neither did the OP.

If women decide to align themselves with Feminism, then they are subjecting themselves to the perceptions held against Feminism.

Indeed. But you're just describing a consequence, not justifying a bias.

Feminism carries with it some stigma, and if you decide to align yourself with that, then that is your fault.

If by "your fault" you mean that in certain situations there are consequences for certain actions and alignments, I'm inclined to agree, but this argument doesn't justify those consequences.

Just by changing the name to Women's Rights, or Gender Equality, you remove the stigma, and are essentially saying the same thing.

I am inclined to disagree with your assertion that a simple name change will remove any "stigma" or biases that some people project on to the women's rights and equality movements.

Having said that, by your reasoning we should judge "quantum physics" and those who work in that particular field of science by the actions and statements made by Deepak Chopra, or the movie What the Bleep Do We Know!?, just because they've gained some celebrity and claim to speak for "quantum science".

How you choose to identify yourself is your business, but don't be mad when assumptions are made by how you self identify.

I'm not mad. I'm just pointing out that literally millions of people identify under the term "feminism", and that your prejudice towards them as a whole is unjustified.
