My dad lost a local election last night. What can I do to make him feel better and let him know how proud I am that he even tried?

I didn’t expect such a big response from a comment but tell your dads today! I lost my dad when I was 5. I don’t have memories, good or bad of him. There seems to be little issue with expressing anger and negative emotions when expressing love, affection, respect and such should really be so much easier. Parents are people and they like to hear they’re doing good too. We’ve all had a day when someone said something good to us and it put us in a good mood that we extended to others. Telling people you love them matters. It’s all we really want anyway. We want love, respect and to matter to someone. As a mother, a parent... there’s nothing that matters more than having your children respect or admire you. (Tell your moms too!) Theres always a chance tomorrow could be too late.
