My date abruptly got up and left after I told him that I work as a waitress.

As an associate at a law firm I can tell you I make less than I did as a waitress. I also come home many days so brain dead that I don’t want any communication with a SO or anyone else. My hours are just as unpredictable (if not more) and on most days the people treat you worse in my job. Telling someone they are right but it would be 20-30,000+ cheaper to settle a case with someone is seriously horrible because it makes you the person they take out the frustration on. It also makes you lose faith in the system.

I have literally considered going back to waiting tables. Several of my accountant friends left their jobs to wait tables and now make more money at the local country club and are much happier so screw that guy. Quality of life and money are often much better as a waitress and you all don’t have student loans from overpriced univeristys if you went straight to it so jokes on him. You will be just fine. He sounds like a horrible person. You dodged a bullet.
