No you can’t just “learn to love yourself.” Humans are social, most of us need connections for the sake of our mental health

Basically sums up what I’ve felt my whole life. A lot of people don’t have a choice but to live their lives alone and be lonely. Even though this isn’t really a lifestyle/social choice, I choose not to let it define/destroy me. I think people who say what OP references to and quotes, say that as a defense mechanism, or are just plain insensitive or oblivious to the experiences of others. I’ve been alone for about a whole decade. It’s one thing to be alone, and it’s a whole different level when you’re alone and dealing with adversity from everyone in your environment. I’d honestly rather be alone and have indifference than being alone AND dealing with incessant adversity.
