As others have said, just remember:

• that’s not usually true for small business
• small businesses usually pay even higher fees
• small business owners aren’t your stereotypical fat cats, 2/3 make less than $73,000 (statcan 2016)
• small businesses employ the majority of Canadians and their health matters

By all means call out the chains and corporations for their hypocrisy, but be kind to small businesses who have a completely different relationship with their fees. If they choose to do this (most won’t because they’re scared), they’re doing it because it’ll make a real difference in their lives.

In my case (10 employees, and I’m in that less than 73k group), it would increase my net profit by around 10% and might even help me buy a house in the next 5 years.
