Religion needs to stay out of politics

I’ve seen a lot of people comment about how I framed this post and you’re right. I honestly don’t care about the religion part of this, I hate Arthur Pawlowski and Street Church’s history of hatred and violence towards LGBTQ+ people, Muslim people, and pretty much every minority group out there. Me and a bunch of other people are trying to get this event shut down because Calgary should not be allowing a hate group to hold space within a public building. I’ve protested against Street Church events for years because of the shit they say. I framed it this way because I’ve heard that Reddit is kind of a hub for those atheists who hate religion, and I thought that framing it in a way to appeal to that crowd would make them want to shut it down. It’s been a pleasant surprise being proven wrong and seeing that people on here care about this event because of its bigotry and not just because of religion.

Regardless of how you feel about the way I phrased this (again, I really did think the crowd on here was much different, and I wanted to use that to my advantage to get this event shut down in any way possible), call 311 and tell them why letting a bigoted group like this concerns you. We really need people to do this so that all hate groups know that bigotry of any kind has no place in this city. When you call, make sure you specify that the group is holding an event INSIDE City Hall, and not just outside, there has been a lot of confusion about this.

I don’t know how Reddit works but I hope everyone that commented on this will see this. Solidarity, we can get this shut down together.
