The city only gets to keep $250k/year for the first 10 years. For reference, the Maple Leafs sold the naming rights to the Scotiabank Arena for a whopping $800M for 20 years. More than the cost of the whole project in Calgary.

City council decided to only keep $2.5M of this future revenue stream. You realize the building and land belongs to the city right?

Also, after the deal is up the city is on the hook for maintenance again... you know when the arena is old as fuck again and actually needs it.
