Singles nation: Why so many Americans are unmarried

I see no rational reason, as a man, to marry or have kids.

This is somewhat a function of economics but mostly the fact that it offers males ZERO benefits - only potential problems and risks.

The tax benefits of marriage are nice but they don't outweigh the possibility of financial ruin due to divorce, which is statistically likely. The courts are against you as well. The deck is stacked against you as a man.

Having children is just plain insane from every perspective imaginable. I simply can not rationally justify it. I will never understand why people have kids. It ruins your personal freedom and economic stability and the kids will be born into a world that has a pretty bleak outlook for the future. You kids basically get a front row seat for WW3: the resource wars and/or a man made apocalypse.

My viewpoint stems from the undeniable and completely shitty outlook for humanity. Basically we have no future as a species - so why bother maintaining it? We have ruined our planets ecology beyond repair and we continue to double down on its destruction at every level... And its only just begun.

Think about china or india living like we do in the west... Thats our planets future. Thats your children's future.

So how do people respond to a bleak future? They live for the "now". This is what i think drives some of this mentality -There is no future, All we have is now, and im not wasting it having a wife, 2.5 kids, and a starter home with a white picket fence.

Tldr: everything is fucked. Why have kids or get married? Just live your life and find things you enjoy doing until this whole thing falls apart. There is no future to look forward to.

"I dont know whats gonna happen... But ill tell you this - i just wanna have my kicks before the whole shit house goes up in flames!"
