Socially confident people of Reddit, how?

I used to be socially awkward and not know how to converse until a few things happened.

I got put in so many awkward positions that they were no longer awkward

I started saying no more. It felt empowering giving my honest input. I also learned how to listen and say yes

I also learned to roll with things more and not always get the perfect words for the perfect situation and perfect time.

The biggest thing I learned was smelling bullshit though. There's a lot of people that anticipate conversations and already have their next statement prepared before you even respond because they're not used to someone listening to them or agreeing with them. I just started making them aware in a kind way and then breaking contact if someone refuses to be open to a two way conversation.
