Sony confirms PS5 won’t support SSD storage expansion at launch

I have a related question and will now shamelessly highjack this thread to seek help with it.

I want to replace the external storage HDD I use with my PS4. I want to go from using a 4TB HDD to a 8TB HDD.

Can I successfully clone the 4TB drive onto the 8TB drive and have it work?

I am not talking about trying to clone the internal drive of the PS4 that has the system software on it. There seems to be disagreement online about whether that is possible or not and I dont want to discuss it here.

Spoiler alert. I already have cloned the 4TB HDD onto the 8TB HDD.

First I formatted the 8TB HDD for external storage using the PS4.

Then I used a Star tech dual bay external drive dock wirh both HDDs that made a sector by sector clone of the 4TB drive onto the 8TB drive.

The good news is that the 8TB drive works with my PS4 and has all my saved games on it copied from the 4TB drive.

The bad news is that my PS4 see the 8TB drive as only being a 4TB drive.

I assume what I need to do now is to extend the partition that I assume the cloning process created on the 8TB HDD.

However I am not sure that the standard disK management software that comes with PCs will be up to that task.

Is it possible to extend this partition?

If so can regular windows disk mnagwnt software do that with this drive that is now formatted and I think maybe encrypted for my PS4?

If the regular disk management tool cant do it is there some other software program that can?
