As someone that skipped numerous classes during my undergrad career, and failed a few classes as a result, I'll never understand the people that think meeting with the prof at the end of the year is going to help their grade. I guess I'd rather have the prof not recognize me as - that moron who skipped all those classes then whined about his grade - when I actually was in the classroom the next semester. Fast forward to my grad career - as someone who was a TA for quite a few undergraduate and graduate level courses, dealing with meetings with these types of failing students is the worst. More than enough times somehow it's my fault as the TA that they didn't turn stuff in, they did terrible work when they decided to actually turn stuff in and I should re-grade it because they must've been right, or they just never showed up, which wasted my time.
