Team Fortress 2 Players Are Protesting the Game’s Massive Bot Problem

Valve has a good habit of asking knowledgeable people what their opinions are on how a game operates and then completely disregarding pretty much everything that comes through.

The current set up of professional Dota 2 leagues (DPC) operates in an unbelievably unhealthy way. An overwhelming portion of the community and almost every single tier 1 pro player presents similar solutions and they just don’t care at all.An NA player mentioned on stream that in general there’s a ridiculous lack of communication from Valve with the organizations or the pros directly on how the formats/scene should work. When they do ask questions, they receive little in response initially followed by permanent radio silence.

Valve is a company that’s structured in a way that does the absolute minimal amount of work for a good but also somewhat modest return. That may sound like a characteristic of capitalism and corporations in general, but Valve could be raking in millions more and have a larger player base if they invested time in marketing the game and managing the scene better. It could be so much better with minimal effort, but they just can’t do it. They put out a project, monetize it and give it decent support until the cash flow starts to falls off, and then generally drop it like a brick in order to prioritize the “big new project”(Steam Deck rn).
