TIL an American woman needed her husband's permission to open a bank account as recently as the 1960s

Because you see (and this one will really fuck with you) it actually wasn't her choice.

A woman decides to take out student loans to get an art history degree, instead of becoming an engineer. HER CHOICE TO MAKE LESS MONEY.

She takes off time to have a baby. HER CHOICE TO MAKE LESS MONEY.

She doesn't make much money, because of that art history degree, because she works at the library part-time. HER CHOICE TO MAKE LESS MONEY.

All three are her choice. You don't like it because women have the choice, and you hate men for making more money because they become engineers, join the military, or work those long hours. They choose not to have children, because they want the money.

Women want the money and the choice... you don't get both, and you can't wrap your brain around that.
