This is the shit I hear all the time when they try to rationalize it.

I always respond that their grandparents didn't have air conditioning and homes that were almost perfectly insulated. Homes used to get drafts due to how they were nowhere near airtight. Now even older homes have had tyvek air barrier material added one of the times the homes exterior siding was replaced and have had modern double-paned windows installed to save on AC bills.

Most of them intellectually know this shit already. During discussions IRL you can visibly see them run up against a brick wall of cognitive dissonance between what they damn well know and whatever ideological bullshit prevents them from making the connection in their heads.
