I’ve always tipped trainees. I tip according to their performance, of course.

I’ve worked with so many asshole servers. Always looking out for only themselves but claiming we are a team/family while they skip all side duties,steal tables from you, etc…

I do it to be fair and in hopes that when they experience the same bad behaviors from coworkers that I have they’ll know I’m no slag and possibly be a better coworker for others like myself.

When I was trained I did absolutely everything while the seniority shot the shit and took smoke breaks. No tips. No gratitude for the bomb tips.

Also, being a trainee didn’t pay anything extra above min. and 28 year old bus boys who didn’t do shit for my tables would leave with plenty of tips because it was required for them to get a certain %.
