U.S. government deficit down 17 percent from same period a year ago

I mean this is hardly good news... Last year we had an extra $2.5 trillion in deficit spending to pay for the COVID stimulus packages on top of the normal $1 trillion deficit spending we have every year, plus however much more deficit spending we had given reduced tax revenue due to pandemic induced economic decline.

The fact that our deficit spending is only down 17% from the vastly overinflated deficit we had last year, despite the economy supposedly doing great and there being no more stimulus packages to be paid for is not a good thing...

Actual good news would be our deficit spending being reduced by over 70%, back to what it was pre-pandemic.
