Weekly /r/Games Discussion - What have you been playing, and what do you think of it?

Wolfenstein The New Order

So i'd love for someone to tell me the greatness of this game cos currently i'd give it a 5/10 (pc and on the 2nd hardest default difficulty)

I've never played another Wolfenstein game and I've heard so many good things about this game and I was hyped for it, but so far i'm happy I got it in a steam sale.

Good:

Blazkowicz's jacket

The soundtrack to this game, holy shit is it fantastic

Combat is fun, awesome to shoot things (though I felt the main weapon I used was the assault rifle, would have liked more reason to use others)

Stealth though simple was great and fun to do, throwing knives are OP.

The start of the game was the best part, Deathshead was scary in what he was doing.

I loved when Blazkowicz was kind of thinking/talking to himself, the way he said everything was so badass and awesome and reminded me of Mad Max in a way, I really wish more games would do this.

Bad:

There was too much story, there needed to be less reasons to kill more nazis, there was maybe too many levels where you were doing other things apart from killing nazis and I felt this ruined the game.

The enemy with the shotgun that had the pellets bounce around the room, I felt this guy was too OP, took a while to kill him unless it was with a fully charged lazer cutter shot, every other enemy was justified except this guy I felt.

From cutscenes to game play, the game felt very badly cut together, there was no fade in, just went from cutscene to gameplay and felt very awkward and felt that you just appeared in the next area, even after the cutscene.

I've never played another wolfenstein and tbh I really didn't care about any of the characters (except the scottish guy he was fucking awesome)

Note:

Blazcowicz had this soulless stare throughout the game which suited him whenever he thought to himself about something as it was generally kind of dark, however whenever he showed any emotion to any other character it kind of broke this and made his face feel dumb tbh.

The other games I played was Metro 2033 redux and Last Light (I won't go into too much detail).

Both are great games and I only had the redux for 2033.

Ranger mode was AMAZING, I love games with no HUD. My only issue with this game is it ran like shit.

The game would run for maybe half an hour at a constant 60fps, before it would start stuttering badly and this kind of ruined the game.

I increased my page file to 10GB (which 7GB was the fix) and still had this issue. Apart from this the games are both brilliant.
