He took me to a Cafe on the first date. As soon as we walked in I approached the counter to order (the norm in Australia) . He said 'no, they know me well here and will provide table service'. I knew that this was highly unlikely but I went and sat down with him and we waited. 20 minutes went by with no 'table service' so he started to complain that the Cafe had 'never done this to him before' and that we should leave.

We didn't talk about anything else. It was 20 minutes of awkwardly waiting for something that never came (and was never on offer). By the time we walked out I wasn't interested in going to a second Cafe.

Just order at the flipping counter.
