Honestly I really want a gf but I really like being alone so it's worked out for me after a divorce where we both made mistakes.

I would say that you have to have some standards to love yourself, which is attractive to others. I've lately turned away the perfect girl for me because she was very mean to other people when we were alone together and was very obviously not my type.

I don't know what bad things you heard, but that girl was super nice in public and has a great reputation and I found out the truth. I would try it for two reasons: Maybe they are opinions and she's great when you get to know her. It's probably a great dating experience if it doesn't work out that will help you with the next one.
