There's a video being shared where Sanders was speaking to; what appears to be, a high school class. The video was from 14 years ago ... A student asked how the Rs do so well.
It starts with Sanders explaining the core of want most Rs in the gov want; rich tax cuts, privitized health care, private education, private social security.
He asks the students who thinks all Americans should be entitled to health care. Education? All hands go up. He says this is inline with most Americans. If the Rs only went for what's listed above they would get very few votes. .. so they package it ...
(Some paraphrasing) "Well them black people are getting our jobs" now you have a race issue. "Well them women want their right to choose" now you have abortion in question .. then comes religion, and guns, etc .. you essentially put the middle class against each other and they vote against their own self interest.
The video was chilling because I see people I know voting against their own self interests and it's sad. I know people on welfare, and market place insurance that voted for Trump ... I know teachers that voted against someone that wanted to give them all raises ..
Like I get people have their values they hold strong, and that's great, believe in what you believe in .. but FFS realize when you're voting for someone you're voting for a lot more than that 1 point ..
