as a woman, we are the weaker sex

The most militarist and violent warrior cultures in all of human history saw women in a much more favorable way. Many of which saw women more or less as equals in all matters. Even in the Bronze Age.

The Spartans, the old Norse, or the Aztecs. All revered women as warriors in their own right. And those women who died in childbirth were seen as the same as the men who died in war and were buried with the same honors.

These highly patriarchal and hierarchal cultures are a product of an agrarian lifestyle where the division of labor and the segregation of sexes was a tool to maintain order. Interestingly enough, these cultures were almost always conquered by the more egalitarian barbarians at one point or another.

Men today like to moan and complain that women have strayed from tradition. But the truth is how firmly do men also cling to these roles? They want a submissive and traditional partner without any of the work it would take to even be worthy of one in their own belief systems.
