Zofolt and depersonalisation

Hey! I've never had any experience with taking SSRIs but I do have a medical background.

The symptoms you're feeling associated with Zoloft are normal, especially two weeks into the medication. You may even experience some insomnia or nervousness, some headache, or GI symptoms.

Patients who are diagnosed with depression lack neurotransmitters like serotonin which control mood, movement, etc. The purpose of the drug is working to block the re uptake of your serotonin so that you have more serotonin available to increase your mood/desire to do things/ socialize/etc. Two weeks is actually the right time for the medication to being taking effect, with 6-8 weeks being a marker for the full effect.

I don't know what you mean by depersonalization, but the effects of the drug can make you feel like a completely different person than what you are used to- your body's chemistry is changing.

Surely, you should check with your health care provider about this and explain everything in detail to them for their professional advice. Please do not stop taking this medication unless you've spoken with your doctor, first!
