1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda

We used to have one in our barn when I was growing up that belonged to my dad's older brother, same year as OP's pic but plum crazy purple in color. When I was about 10, I started to get into cars. My father was proud of this fact, as he also loves cars and had a 1972 Roadrunner(and 76 'just because,' he said).

Well, I really loved my uncle's Barracuda and my uncle didn't really care much about it as it had sat in the barn for almost 15 years and by that point, he could get 50 nice ones, if he wanted. My dad talked to him when I was 12 and told me that, when I turned 15, my uncle would sell me this car for $1,000(obviously, that was very cheap and sure it needed a good bit of work but $1k was very cheap for that car but my uncle was cool with it since it was going to someone that would love it. My father said he'd help me fix it and pay for most stuff we'd need to make it wonderful, again, as long we worked on it, together. That is, I would have to help and not just watch him do all the work. I was so happy!).

Well, fast forward to a few months before I turned 15. A few years and many, many, many yards had been mowed by me during that time. I saved nearly all of my money(except for a guitar and amp that I bought, which started my 20+ year love of playing) and time seemed to slow down as I waited for the glorious day of my 15th birthday which, of course, was the day that I would have my very own Barracuda. I looked at the calendar every single day, just waiting for the day to come when I could watch my dad tow the car to 'the shop' portion of one of our barns where we worked on tractors, combines, field equipment, etc.

However, one day I had ridden my bike into town, running around with one of my friends and it came time to go home for supper. It was earlier than when I usually went home and, when I got there, I saw something I hadn't expected. I saw an unknown truck sitting in front of the barn. The truck was attached to a trailer, one that was the size that you'd see with a car sitting on it when you go down the highway.

I rode out to the barn, curious to see what was going on and that's when it happened. When I knew my dream of having a Barracuda was being undone right before my eyes. A stranger and 2 of his friends were in the barn, pushing my uncle's Barracuda towards that trailer I had seen a moment before as my uncle and father stood by the trailer and chatted. They thought that the car would be gone before I got home and that my father would tell me when I arrived.

I never got to fulfill my dream. I never got my own Barracuda. I just stood by my uncle and looked at him for a few seconds before pushing my bike back up to the house.
