So youve decided that he has exhibited this behaviour for over a year and is therefore an alcoholic? Despite there being no indication of such? Despite his description of his reasoning being because he was nervous about the first job interview he ever had? Indicating it is more than likely that this sort of drinking is rare?
This is not beyond the realm of potentially being a one off. It is quite likely it is a one off. We have absolutely no indication this has been going on for over a year, especially not indication that all those criteria have been present for over a year, therefore any diagnosis of alcoholism is incorrect. You cannot just decide extra details and base your opinion on that. There’s simply nothing in this post that suggests this is alcoholism rather than a one off unhealthy use of alcohol as a maladaptive coping mechanism. You cannot say someone is a drug addict because they had too much in an inappropriate context once to your knowledge. That’s simply an incorrect use of the term.
He shouldn’t have drank like this. Drinking like this this once doesn’t make him an alcoholic.
