Am I a bad feminist?

I don't like this mercantile way of thinking about art. I enjoy creative works for what they are. I don't think of them as entertainment products so I don't pay for them; and I don't think of them as advertisements so the artist isn't getting "extra clicks" that bump her popularity graph. Basically I'm not "supporting" anybody by just enjoying her art. You shouldn't feel guilty for what you're doing!

We're all bad people in some ways. Many many times authors just don't showcase their badness(?) in their art so there's no way you could have seen through that. I personally do get squicked out by really horrible artists to the point I lose my enjoyment, like the Dilbert guy who turned out to be a red piller who hates women and feminists.

It's totally fine if you don't get grossed out. It's even fine if you actually support* the (not-shitty) art. I'd draw the line at diehard fangirling and making excuses for the bad things. If you do that then you kind of are a bad feminist. :p

*Supporting an artist for me means recommending her works to other people, sending her reviews, comments or thank you notes, donating to her, publishing fan fiction of her, things like that.
