Nice short clips. I feel like there's some very valid points these guys raise, but like anything in life, as we look around at the world through a sales persons eyes... they're just selling a product, and that product is 'think about work outside of work'.
I know as well as you do, that we both know what we need to do in work to succeed. And not just that, but to succeed at a level that is completely fucking unprecedented against anybody else in our departments/business.
Fact of the matter is, is that if we aren't doing that it's because we doubt ourselves. Dunno about you mate but I sell phones and sometimes I have a customer say 'I didn't usually do this just like this but OK', and after a bit of reassurance I know they've left my call like WTF. I've left with another sale on the board and my colleagues looking at me thinking 'wow he was just chatting some mad shit'.
That's like a natural high. Feels so good. Almost like a drug but not quite as good or as real as actual drugs. LOL I'm a bit pissed (drunk) and about to phone a taxi. But thanks for the link mate.
I think if anybody is dedicated enough to listen to something like this outside work, or even read this subreddit outside work, it's putting in the extra effort. That 'extra effort', or genuine high workic, effort you put in to succeed... it's spans everything as well as any sales job.
Product knowledge, taking the time to understand or create a 'need' in a customer, offering a suitable product or making one with a higher rate of commission fit those needs, connecting dots properly.. it's all about that, but it plays into every aspect of life.
You're fat? Let's face it, fat is not beautiful, at all. Being fat shows you dont work out or watch what you eat to be in better physical condition. I am a fucking beast on the phones and terrorise people into 24month contracts when they just wanna leave and go onto pay as you go.. but I'm also a fat cunt. I'm a fat cunt because I don't put effort into my body.
Or you might not buy new clothes, so you look like a tramp because you've bought something else instead. WHATEVER IT IS YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT, and working TOWARDS IN A VERY MOTIVATED, HARDCORE DEDICATED WAY.. that will show in whatever it is you wanna focus on.
Sales is just our occupations, we can search high and low for the perfect advice and podcasts, but really.. we know what to do. A lot of people just listen to things like this for extra reassurance or a 'help me' fashion. I mean yeah these guys can talk about things and it all makes sense, but there's no real 'fuck me' moments.
I don't think there'll ever be any 'fuck me' moments in things like this, it's just sales people coaching sales people and building rapport in a far with little insights to buy a whole product, exactly like what we do.
Kind of like politics and how people segregate themselves voluntarily due to insecurities. The vast majority of these things are actually bullshit, but good to listen to none the less to pass time. Like reddit, or listening to music.
