Anyone else have the urge to go out and experience the real world before Applying?

Homie. I understand your reservations about committing fully to medicine, but isn't it a little early to be considering gap years? You just finished your sophomore year. Gap years aren't supposed to be planned two years in advance. People take gap years because something has failed to go to plan. It's an opportunity for students to retake an mcat, complete a masters program, do postbacc coursework, etc. You are halfway through prereqs and you haven't taken your mcat yet, so what's the deal? Ask yourself why you want to be a doctor.

Which part of your life is lacking in freedom? You are a college student. Freedom is your middle name. You have more freedom right now than you will ever have in your life again. Cherish it. It doesn't last forever. Get yourself some roommates for next year, and "be in the struggle to find that passion." Don't wait until after college. Universities are the best places on earth for indulging one's interests. Nothing is preventing you from finding yourself, starting a business, having roommates, or taking chances in college. When you're living in the real world you have to spend most of your day working to make enough money to feed yourself and have a place to live. If you want to find a passion, then do some searching now. You can take classes in music or dance or drama or sports or cuisine or WHATEVER. Take classes in things that interest you and maybe you'll uncover a new passion for something.
