Avoiding bench presses?

I literally failed a bench press on 125 lbs (pathetic, I know). It was after a huge push session after a night with little sleep, and I decided "I need more bench volume."

2 sets went great. Third set and my arms literally just gave up. I managed to muscle one side up to the low hooks, and kept my other arm stable. A few deep breaths and I probably would have realized I could just slide my free arm over to move up the left side. Thankfully someone noticed and came over to help.

This is why form and focus are important. I stayed calm and nothing bad happened. When I literally couldnt lift the weight anymore. Just know your limits and be ready.

I understand your feelings of anxiety, but if you work your way up lightly and feel your own body for its lkmits, you'll be fine. People bench without spotters all the time.
