They obliged him by not publishing it, but like little teenage girls they couldn't keep a secret and related this conversation to the Toronto Star. Whoever mentioned it, probably even told the Star that it was off the record and asked them not to publish it. But the Star stabbed Bloomberg in the back and published those comments second hand, meaning its both inaccurate from a second hand source and violating the promise of Bloomberg
