Was Bound to Happen Eventually (My School)

I was all for this untill I was trying to tell a story about a person in my sociology class to a friend, who was (I think) gender fluid, and what I found was that it was difficult in ordinary speech to avoid gendered pronouns in informal speech without it sounding really off. Here's what I tried to say to my buddy when he picked me up from class one day: This person had pissed me off because in the section on queer theory in sociology they irritated the whole class when they kept interrupting to correct the prof. He finally shut them down and asked that they not continue interrupting since it was "no longer relevant, and taking us off course from where we need to be" he continued to say that they needed to learn the material as shown in class or else they would struggle to do well on the exam. It was awesome. This person, as well as a few others had been circle jerking about this shit all semester, it was like it was all they did with their free time. It was kinda sad though because they ended up crying and having to leave the class. I do actually feel bad for them even though they are annoying.

See how shitty and confuding that sounds? The singular "they" works well in theory but because confusing when used repetitively and in different contexts.

The singular they isn't the best option because it has always been used in conjuction with "he/she" pronouns. I've always thought personalized pronouns are rediculous, and I still do. But it makes more and more sense to me that we have a non-binary pronoun set that 1. Doesn't sound rediculous. 2. Isn't derogatory. 3. Can be easily remembered, pronounced and switched to should someone politely request it. And 4. Be widely accepted enough that the over the top special snowflake pronouns lose all legitimacy of being the only non-binary replacement. If we hav3e a set of non-binary pronouns there is nothing left to complain about. The only reason for personalized pronouns is that none exist that can accommodate their identity, but if there were to be a catch all "other" pronoun set there is nothing to complain about
