Breastfeeding & Weight

I just made it to a year breastfeeding and ended up weaning just after her first birthday because I wanted to go on acne medication (thought it was supposed to be over in my teens but NOPE here we are lol). If I could change something about my breastfeeding “journey” it would be to not worry so much about my weight. I had so many friends from college getting married this summer and I had last seen them at my worst senior year and wanted to look fab lol. I literally thought I had binge eating disorder - NOPE just underrating even though I was adding on that extra 330 calories a day to my goal. Now that I’m done breastfeeding my appetite has gone back to normal and food and weight doesn’t consume my every waking moment anymore.

Like you said, this happened with your first as well. It’s such a special bonding time between you and your baby. Snapback culture is the effing worst. You’re doing amazingly.

I absolutely do not believe you should be worried about your weight, but if you are adamant it is something you want to change then it is calories in vs calories out. You don’t have to exercise if you hate it (I do yoga and Pilates now after doing weightlifting for years because I can do it them home and it’s quick). Try tracking your MACROS for a week just to know what you should be aiming for. When you calculate your calories (do NOT use any goal from myfitnesspal, use something like NASM Calorie Calculator) DONT FORGET TO ADD 330 calories to the goal number so your supply won’t be affected. Don’t go too much too quickly AND IF YOU FEEL DISTRACTINGLY HUNGRY THEN YOU MUST EAT MORE. After the week is over DELETE MYFITNESSPAL FROM YOUR PHONE. This app is the worst and should only be used educationally. I downloaded and deleted and redownloaded at least 10 times. Be stronger than me - PP time is NOT THE TIME TO WORRY about your weight
