Car run over protesters, Poland.

Furthermore any morons who intentionally stand in front of your car/push on your car/etc, are guilty of assault. In the U.S. you do not have the right to unlawfully detain people, and reasonable force can be used to break the attempt to detain. Driving forward slowly enough is reasonable force. Driving forward at less than 5 MPH is generally seen as reasonable, and in the past has not resulted in convictions. Some people have actually been dumb enough to get a foot etc run over by a car going 3 mph, and they were not able to press any form of charges, nor were lawyers willing to take their case. I saw one case where incredibly stupid BLM protestors were blocking a highway. Ironically they caused several blacks to be late for work, jeapordizing their jobs and lives. One person in the crowd had enough and started slowly moving forward. A bunch of idiots literally tried to stand in front and push the car back. This was obviously unsuccessful and one woman had a foot run over somehow. Maybe she was trying to wedge it in front of the tire to stop the car, or maybe she somehow got caught. Police briefly talked to the driver and declined to charge him. The woman was not able to bring any civil suits, either. Since this case, and others like it, happened when the driver was merely unlawfully detained, it's vanishingly unlikely that any car driver could ever be charged for driving through a mob to escape. Even in states that have the most unforgiving duty to retreat laws, driving through the mob IS your only method of retreat. No state requires you to commit suicide by getting out of the car and running. That would be highly unconstitutional, and would never stand up. If you have forewarning of the attack, in some states you might be required to reverse and leave. But if the mob suddenly turns, and they are violently attacking your car, you can legally drive through them.
