The paradigm of dandelions being accepted as weeds is the basis for a pet theory of mine that 90 percent of humans are essentially bred as cattle for the amusement of a sub-category of psychopaths. And the thing is, just like docile cattle, we just accept it.
Think about it. A dandelion is a cute little plant that grows pretty yellow flowers that then turn into eerily beautiful, translucent globes that children enjoy picking up and blowing into a cloud of evening-sun-catching motes. One day in the not-too-distant past, some cold-blooded, reptilian motherfucker pointed at that plant and said "THIS IS A WEED, NOW! EVERYONE TRY YOUR BEST TO ERADICATED IT FROM YOUR LAWNS, OR ELSE YOU WILL BE KNOWN AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD AS MR. SLOVENLY SLOUCH-YARD!"

The guy who said dandelions are weeds should have been INSTANTLY recognized as a psychopath and shunned by society. It's like he wasn't even trying to hide it. But the cruel joke is...as I'm noting, here...he didn't need to hide it, at all.
That's the awful truth about the relationship of the normal empathy-capable human herd and our callous, mirror-neuron-lacking masters. The very thing the normal people from the psychopaths is what keeps us from effectively resisting them. Normal people are highly social. We assume the best about each other. So, if someone makes an emphatic, charismatic demand of a whole group of civilized humans, they are almost powerless to deny the request. If the psychopath hits the right note with his commands (something they apparently have an instinct for) it seems to trigger a natural reaction in the human herd that says "this person must have a really good reason for this shit they're saying. better listen to them."
And thus, we are perpetually fucked. The dandelion thing is just an example of a much larger, totally pervasive phenomenon.
As for you, sir or madam, I have no way of knowing whether you're a psychopath acting on an instinct to control others or a fellow member of the placid herd, acting on an instinct to go with the flow...but it doesn't matter, because there's no changing the situation.
I just thought I'd point all this out, because it's what I thought about when you casually issued us all instructions to throw a particular plant in the trash.
